Man In White Dress

King and Queen of Bedford Ave.

January 13th, 2008 · No Comments · documentation

Featuring:  Matthew Silver, Marissa Mickelberg

DV Cam:  Matthew Blaire

This was one of our most audience engaging performances.  We were focused on spreading the cheery feeling of merrymaking and it came out and was reflected back to us.  This was after we did one with a microwave as a baby, which didn’t come out as good as we planned.  I divided it into four short parts recapping most of the performance.  And then if you just want to watch specific segments, all available for your viewing pleasure.  They are on the bottom after the Recaps.

Part 1 The King and Queen Pump up the Jam

In the beginning of the clip the Queen presents herself to the people, but do they listen nay.  But then a little girl presents herself with a little musical instrument which she does not play.  Taken away from her mommy she falls on the curb.  Ouch! But don’t fear we pump up the jam! And then proclaim more Chicken and Turkey’s on peoples heads.

Part 2 More Taxes and Tea Time

The wacky king knocks the queen out, she is revived by the song Back to Life, Back to Reality, we try to get the little girl to dance but she doesn’t know what to think.  We meet a little soldier protecting the forts of Bedford Ave., but the king thinks he’s an enemy.  We Proclaim more taxes, have tea time with the locals.   Curtsies for all.

Part 3 The Red Demon Hand Monster

We start off dancing with the legendary Jester.  He disappears, we start knighting and fighting, the locals.  Then finally there is the legendary fight with Red Handed Demon.  Watch as the king kills this brutal Beast.

Part 4 Around the King and Queen

The King and Queen finish up their impromptu battle to find themselves relaxed and at pace.  They continue making there way to the next level of a reality melded between the cheese and the ham sandwich.  In this piece they gather an audience, with their wacky dance.  Using the computer keyboard to control the locals.  For the finale we are ended, by an Unhappy rent owner who lives above the New York Muffin.

You must understand, before we do these performances we actually have a meeting about them.  We are trying to become good performers and the only way to do it is by being aware.  Taking notes boosts up your awareness ten fold. Usually I meet on Wednesday, I audio recorded the entire session, check it out, Yowsers!:

First we recap the last performance, then we create characters, for this one it was the King and Queen of Bedford Ave. and finally we create an outline and props list envisioned for our stage,  Bedford Ave. btwn 4th N. St and 8th N. St. The outline helps us remember certain things to do consistently, but with impromptu, and merrymaking attitude.  This is the document:

And then after the performance we take more notes to talk about for the next meeting.

 Matthew’s Notes After the Performance

The rest of the clips are short funny things that happened on there own, plus the full version of Around the King and Queen.

Oh No, The Child Falls

In this clip the Queen tries to convince the child to join the King and Queens musical band.  The child withholds a mystical musical instrument that she will not play, but proudly show.  The mother is impatient, so she is taken away, unfortunately the child falls, making a musical sound as her instrument flunks to the ground.  She starts crying while the Queen cheers what a joyous day it is.

Dragon Queens

The queen has an odd conversation with a local about drag queens and giants.

Knighting and Fighting

Through out this performance we knight people on Bedford Ave.  Here we knight two town locals and then send them to battle, but they wish not to battle because they believe in the power of LoVe.

Poetry From the Locals

This man offered to share us a poem from his heart.  We gathered a crowd and then magic was sent to our inner beings.

The Full Version of around the King and Queen

That’s just it, the full version of the King and Queen Dancing to Around the world.  We’ve been able to gather a crowd a few times, this is just one of those opportunities we got it on tape.

Activist Argues With a Fool

The activist scorns the Queen for having toooo much fun.  He learns that he works from the Queens butthole.  Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha ha…

Singing to Phyllis

In this final clip, not included in the recap we sing to our dear friend Phyllis, please check out her finely assorted items on the NE corner of Bedford Ave. and North 7th St.Stay tuned for the next wacky, audience engaging adventure.  To all be merry and have a merry goodnight you fool.
